The 60-bedroom Queen Elizabeth Hospital Travelodge located on the doorstep of the hospital in Govan, Glasgow, designed by Mosaic Architecture + Design, has opened its doors to the public.
Located at the junction of Linthouse Road and Govan Road, the three-storey hotel incorporates a ground floor bar-café. It is the company’s seventh hotel in Glasgow and its 45th property in Scotland.
Neil Haining, Director of Mosaic, said: “Located on the opposite side of Govan Road to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, this new hotel directly serves the users of the hospital and provides a valuable addition to the local community.
“Situated on the remaining site within the Linthouse Business Park mixed use masterplan, the new hotel sits on the most prominent location within the local streetscape with the southern corner of the site facing directly onto the main access route into the hospital.”
Within weeks of opening, the new hotel was bought by a private investor for £5.26 million from previous owner Linthouse Business Park, which pre-let the property to Travelodge.
Travelodge became Britain’s first value hotel brand when it launched in the UK in 1985. It is now the UK’s largest independent hotel brand, with more than 540 hotels and 42,000 guest bedrooms.
